This Privacy Policy explains how Safe Message ("the App," "we," "us") handles information. We do not require account creation and do not sell personal information.
When you send a message, the App encrypts the text and/or photo you compose on your device before uploading it to our server, so that we can generate a link for your recipient to view it. This is not end-to-end encryption: the encryption key is built into the App itself rather than being unique to you or your conversation, and for photos, only part of the file is encrypted. Because of this, and because our server needs to be able to display the message content to the person who opens that link, we are technically able to access message content, and so could anyone else who examined the App itself. Content should not be treated as unreadable by us or as secure against a determined party — see "Your Choices" below for how to use the App appropriately given this.
We also receive limited technical and usage information through third-party services described below, such as app usage events, message metadata (destination channel, whether a photo was attached, image size), and advertising identifiers. Message metadata sent to analytics does not include the text or image content itself.
Messages are stored on our server only long enough to be viewed and are subject to automatic deletion after a limited time or after being viewed, per the in-app disclaimer. We do not independently verify or guarantee exact deletion timing, and messages should not be relied on for content that must never be recoverable.
Camera and photo library access is requested only when you choose to attach a photo to a message, and only for that purpose.
The App uses third-party services for analytics and advertising. These services may collect information such as device identifiers, app usage events, and advertising identifiers, and may use this information according to their own privacy policies. We do not control how these third parties process data beyond the purposes described here.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only with the third-party services described above and as needed to deliver your message to its recipient.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
