This Privacy Policy explains how Offline Maps: SOS & Rescue ("the App," "we," "us") handles information. We do not require account creation and do not sell personal information.
The App does not require you to create an account. Your map settings, downloaded map regions, dropped pins, and the emergency services database are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us or linked to your identity.
We also receive limited technical and usage information through third-party services described below, such as app usage events, crash reports, and device and app identifiers used for analytics and app integrity. This information does not include your location.
The App requests access to your precise location ("While Using the App") to show your position on the map, sort emergency services by distance from you, and calculate distance and direction to a location you select as a target.
Your location is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. We do not store, log, or have access to your location or any record of where you have been. The App has no location tracking, no location history, and no location sharing feature.
You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings. The App remains usable without it — you can still browse maps — but position-dependent features such as distance sorting and the live position indicator will not function.
A world basemap is included inside the App itself and requires no download or connection. Higher-detail regional maps and the emergency services database are downloaded at your request and then stored permanently on your device for offline use. These downloads are requests for map and facility data only; they do not include your location or any identifying information about you.
When you view map detail beyond the levels stored on your device, the App requests map tiles from a public map tile service. These requests transmit only the map area you are viewing, which is not necessarily your own position, and are subject to that service's own privacy policy.
Emergency services data is derived from OpenStreetMap, an open, community-maintained geographic database. Facility coverage and accuracy vary by region and are outside our control.
Your settings, downloaded map regions, dropped pins, and the emergency services database are saved locally on your device. None of this is synced to any account, and all of it is removed if you uninstall the App. You can also clear downloaded maps and the emergency services database at any time from within the App's Settings.
The App includes an optional feature that lets you share your current location as an image or text through your device's standard share sheet. This happens only when you choose to use it, and the content goes only to the recipient and app you select. We never receive it.
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase App Check for app usage analytics, crash reporting, and app integrity verification. These services may collect information such as app usage events, device identifiers, device and operating system information, and crash logs, and may use this information according to Google's privacy policy.
These services are active by default so that we can understand how the App is used, diagnose failures, and verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the App. You can limit this collection through your device’s privacy settings.
The App does not use any third-party advertising or tracking services.
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We do not sell personal information, and we never share your location. Diagnostic and usage data is shared only with Firebase (Google) as described above, and only as needed to operate the App.
The App is a preparation and reference tool. It is not an emergency dispatch service, does not contact emergency services on your behalf, and does not provide medical or first-aid instruction. Facility information comes from OpenStreetMap and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Always contact your local emergency number directly in an emergency.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
